Pastor Pamela Rowley

Rev. Pam RowleyReverend Pamela Rowley was recently appointed as Senior Pastor at University UMC in July of 2015. She previously served as the Senior Pastor of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in El Paso, Texas for four years, Associate Pastor of St. Paul UMC in Abilene, Texas and St. Luke’s UMC in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, a post-modern congregation of 1,400 members in the suburbs of the south Denver Metro area.

Prior to ministry as an Ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church, she was the Director of Music and Worship at First Presbyterian Church in Pueblo, Colorado and a Music Educator. She taught in the Music Education Department at Colorado State University-Pueblo and taught elementary music education in Greeley, Colorado, and Cherry Creek School District in Denver, Colorado, where she developed the district’s Elementary Music Curriculum. She is a certified Orff-Schulwerk educator, and has directed choir festivals, ecumenical worship events, and English hand-bell mass choirs.

Rev. Rowley sang for eight years in a contemporary Christian group, Women of Note, who performed for and ministered to hundreds of women in the Denver County and Jefferson County correctional systems. Women of Note were the invited guests of the Large Church Initiative of the General Board of Discipleship of the UMC in Denver in 2007. At the invitation of the Colorado Council of Churches, the Women of Note led the Easter Sunrise worship service at Red Rocks Amphitheater, where over 13,000 worshipers gathered at Easter 2009.

Rev. Rowley serves as the Coordinator of Certified Lay Ministry for the New Mexico Conference of the United Methodist Church. She currently serves on the Council of Finance and Administration of the New Mexico Conference and served on the Board of Pensions and Health Benefits, Northwest Texas Conference. She enjoys mentoring those discerning a call to ministry, and serving on the El Paso District Committee of Ordained Ministry. Rev. Rowley has a Master of Arts in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education, Colorado State University, Pueblo. She is a Candidate for the Doctor of Ministry Degree at Austin Theological Seminary. Pam is married to R. Douglas Rowley, M.D., a retired OB-GYN. She is the mother of two children, Sean a first-year law student at the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law, and Lyndsay of Lone Tree, Colorado, a recent graduate of Colorado State University. Pam enjoys reading, cooking, scrapbooking, traveling, playing canasta, and music.

Amelia Hunt

Coordinator of Lay Ministries

Amelia is originally from Tennessee and went to college in North Carolina getting a degree in Outdoor Education. She was working in California in 2012 where she met her husband Tyler. Amelia was pursuing her career in Outdoor Education when she found that God was calling her back to her calling into missions from when she was 15 years old. She now feels working in this position is exactly where God wants her and enjoys working with all the teams in each of the outreach ministries here at UUMC as well as planning Mission Trips. She is here to support those who have a strong interest helping our community. If you ever want help getting something started or getting involved in an outreach ministry or mission she is the lady to talk to.

Marcia Uithoven

Marcia comes to Las Cruces from Minnesota. She and her husband, Gary, have four children and four grandchildren. Marcia graduated from South Dakota State University  in Brockings, SD and earned her Master’s Degree in Christian Leadership with an emphasis on Worship from North American Baptisit Seminary in Sioux Falls, SD. Serving in various churches, Marcia has provided leadership in worship planning, music, pulpit supply and children’s ministry.

Kate Lewis

Kate grew up right here in the Mesilla Valley and has attended University UMC with her family since she was a baby. She and her veteran husband, Jeremy, met while he was stationed at nearby Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX. They recently added a bouncing baby girl to their family, named Aurora. Kate has worked at University UMC for about the past 4 years after graduating from the University of New Mexico. She spent her first 2 years working in our Bright Beginnings Learning Center as a preschool teacher/aide before moving down the hall to our front office as Office Manager. She was also previously in charge of our media operations. The most recent addition to her repertoire of jobs is Coordinator of Children & Family Ministries.

Brian Townsend

Brian grew up in a small TX town. He moved to Las Cruces to attend NMSU and fell in love with Jesus as a result of becoming involved in a collegiate ministry. He has a degree in fishery biology and a Master’s in Divinity from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary. He has been privileged to have served 8 years as pastor a church in the San Francisco Bay Area. He also has 10 years of experience serving as a collegiate minister at ENMU in Portales. He is blessed to be the biological father of 4 wonderful kids and a step-father of 2 great young men. He enjoys fly fishing, outdoor activities, and lounging on the couch with his lovely wife, Lisa.

 

 

 

 


 

 

Kathryn-Mae Eiland

Media Organization & Operations

Kathryn provides help with the organization and creation of content for our weekly bulletin, flyers, newsletters, and media slides. She also operates the media during Sunday services and other special events.  She has a background in graphic design with a strong emphasis on current practices within the print and web media industry. Kathryn moved down to Las Cruces from Alamogordo, NM to finish her Associate’s Degreee and now is working on completing her Bachelor’s Degree. It is with her help that we have updated our Sunday Bulletin design, media presentations, and much more to come.

Becky’s professional experience in accounting spans 13 years, beginning in the auto industry, then crossing over into service, construction, education, and corporate businesses. She is a Las Cruces native, though she has most recently resided in Portland, Oregon. She is the daughter of long time members Linda and Fred Hurd.

Patricia Sprague

Ms. Patty is originally from a small town in western Colorado. She moved to Las Cruces to further her education and fell in love. She is married to a wonderful man, Brandon, with a beautiful daughter and another bundle of joy on the way. They love spending time together playing games and being with their extended families.Ms Patty has been around children her entire life. Her mother had a home daycare when she was growing up. Ms. Patty’s joy for teaching and learning stemmed from this. She always knew she wanted to work with children and their families. Ms. Patty has been with BBLC since 2009 when she started as an Assistant Teacher in the Lion classroom. The following year she became the lead teacher in the Zebra Class. She continued as lead teacher until the fall of 2012 when she took on the position of Assistant Director. In January 2013 she was promoted to Director. She has enjoyed all her positions and years with BBLC.
